What is a “Female Friendly” Auto Repair Facility?

We are proud to be one of Victoria’s most female friendly auto shops. A lot of people ask us, “Okay… so what does that mean?”. Well, historically, the automotive industry has had a certain ‘stigma’ about it that has left many women feeling less than comfortable bringing their cars in. We are out to change all of that. We want everyone – including women – to feel comfortable and confident bringing their vehicle to an auto repair facility.

Through a series of focus groups and research, we determined that it all comes down to communication and trust. That’s why our technicians were some of the first in Victoria to undergo AskPatty.com’s Female Friendly Training Program, to learn how to better communicate to women specifically. In addition, we make transparency in each job a priority. We use a variety of demonstrations and online tools to show each customer exactly what needs to be replaced, how it will be done, and why. We help them understand how we arrive at each cost estimate and discuss it in full prior to completing the job.

But we don’t stop there. We wanted to empower women proactively by teaching them more about their vehicles in a comfortable and non-intimidating setting. We began offering free Ladies’ Night Car Clinics in 2011, and they have now developed a loyal following. At each car clinic, women get hands-on experience changing a tire, jumping a battery, checking fluids, gauging tire pressure, and more; and learn how to do it on their own vehicles.
