The Great Warranty Myth

So you’ve been checking out things like these used cars for sale, you’ve decided it’s time that you buy one. Maybe you were looking at new cars and decided that you get one of those instead. New or old, you’ll find that they both come with a really nice manufacturer’s warranty. That’s great, except now it means you must have all servicing done through the manufacturer or you’ll void the warranty, right?… Wrong!

One of the most common myths in the auto repair industry today is that taking your vehicle to a third party repair facility, like this auto repair shop for instance, will void your warranty. And, not surprisingly, the dealerships aren’t doing much to dispel this misconception. The truth is, as long as an automotive repair shop is a licensed auto repair facility (which most reputable ones are), having your vehicle serviced there will not void your manufacturer’s warranty. It is a necessity for your car to be serviced and repaired if any damage has been done to it to make it safe for the roads.

The big exception to this rule is of course when it comes to manufacturer recalls, as only they have the full understanding of updates required to satisfy the recall. That said, we always make an effort to let our customers know if we are aware of a manufacturer recall for their vehicle, and often will facilitate the update for them through the manufacturer.

So there you have it – you may enjoy a vehicle with a warranty without losing the power to choose where you have it serviced. It does help to have a reputable extended car warranty company looking after your best interests.
