School is back in session, which means more than just carpooling and packing lunches. It’s also time to once again take heed of those School Zone traffic signs and slow down to ensure the safety of our kids.
And just in case we forget, the Victoria Police will have extra officers on duty in school zones – and this year, they’re looking out for more than just speed violations. “Our full contingent of traffic officers will be out,” Victoria Police spokesman Mike Russell told the Times Colonist. “We’ll be out looking for speeders but also distracted drivers and drivers on their cellphones”.
This can be a hectic time of year, so try to give yourself enough time so you can take it slow, keep the kids safe… and save yourself a traffic violation. In the end, speeding – especially in school zones – is never worth the risk!
